Cultural humility is a concept that is within the constellation of humility concepts including: intellectual humility and political humility. In this 1.5 - hour MLA-approved CE course, the presenter will describe the concept of cultural humility, differentiate this concept from the other types of humility, and contextualize how cultural humility as a concept differs from the more well recognized concept of cultural competence.
About the presenter:
Xan Goodman is an Associate Professor and Health Sciences Librarian at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) where she supports the School of Public Health, School of Dental Medicine, School of Nursing, and the School of Integrated Health Sciences. Since 2018, Xan has been teaching workshops on cultural humility and is the author of a three-pillar model of cultural humility for libraries.
